Dear Family, Friends, Colleagues, Loved Ones,
It’s a beautiful afternoon here in New Hampshire ... the air is crisp, the light bright - one can only believe that Spring is indeed here; that crocuses, daffodils, and forsythia will soon be blooming ....
Such beauty that one can only hope, only pray, that someday it will be equally shared with the oppressed, the vulnerable, the marginalized ...
One almost dares to hope that from between the cracks some light will soon be seen.
Yesterday, when I posted my This Last Day of Ramadan reflection I included an excerpt and link to the work of the Rev. Jamie Hamilton. The link I provided yesterday was wrong - my fault.
The need to correct that error gives me an excuse to quote her again, this time from an offering she published today, Eid Mubarak, Blessed Festival, where she writes:
.... And yet, today, we need to be aware that many Muslim-majority countries are under threat of bombings, missiles flying, and fears about what the next day will bring. We keep everyone in our prayers as Muslims around the world celebrate the beauty of their faith in the best way they can...
Further down she offers a Reflection for the Eid:
… The gift of sharing food between strangers and the gift of entertaining angels unawares reveal the capacity we have to care for each other. Sometimes we have to travel half way across the world to remember that this human yearning to share sustenance is embedded in our core …
